Camera: Test Run 2.

This was my second day out with the camera. Actually night out.
The shadows are of my nephew who patiently did whatever he was told to do. He had no other options. ;)

PS : Camera to be blamed for the pixel loss.

Ok. The camera comes back again.

I have not used my camera - A Casio EX-P700 - for almost a year now. I always thought it was busted. So took it out for a test run today.

A few trial shots on my roof

Pythonesque.

Yes, this is a word in the English lexicon!

For all those who don't know what I am talking about just like myself two months back : I am talking about the British group Monty Python. The group's influence on comedy has been compared to The Beatles' influence on music.

My this post is based on whatever the verb is for searching on Wikipedia.

The Pythons:
Back row: Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam
Front row: Terry Jones, John Cleese, Michael Palin

Why am I writing about them all of a sudden. Well I just saw, apart from their other works, "The Holy Grail" for the 3rd time THIS WEEK!

Some interesting stuff that I came to know about them in the Wiki Article:

1. The Python programming language by Guido van Rossum is named after the troupe, and Monty Python references are often found in sample code created for that language. Also, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory wrote some spacecraft navigation software in Python, which they dubbed "Monty."

2. Each member of Monty Python has an asteroid named after him (9617 Grahamchapman, 9618 Johncleese, 9619 Terrygilliam, 9620 Ericidle, 9621 Michaelpalin, and 9622 Terryjones).

3. South Park fans: The show's style of animation is inspired by the paper cut-out cartoons made by Terry Gilliam for Monty Python's Flying Circus, of which Parker and Stone - The Creators - have been lifelong fans.

4. Harry Potter fans: J. K. Rowling, author of the series, is a fan of Gilliam's work. Consequently, he was Rowling's first choice to direct Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2000. Warner Bros. refused to consider Gilliam as director.

Writing about a dream
I have night after night
Where I am the master of my realm
Life all around & that beauty sprite

A dream
Where I have 'not' sinned
Where I go to 'sleep' in peace
Where I can fly 'with' the wind
Where Evils in me have a sweet release

On the tenth - I start
11, 12 - in it I had no heart
A Sunday today - December thirteen
And the much awaited Sun is finally seen

A dream
Where there are no people with faces two
Where there are no people who scare the wits out of me
Where there are no lies and everything is true
Where I find the door to happiness and also the key

The India of Gods!

This is a country with Gods galore
Millions counted & wait - there are some more
Its only Infinity we'll bow before
In-front of Him we shamelessly implore

India is a country

Where there are 330 million Gods.
The 1 billion figure doesn't look huge now?
We are a superpower. We have more Gods than the population of the US.

Where each of the Gods come in a different magnitude.
I've heard you can see Him in a rock. Can we?
No, you have to go to a temple mile's' away.

Where the Gods are bribed.
Quality of work done by Him directly varies with your offerings.

Where luck & health is bought for Rs. 11.
We have people more qualified than the doctors to treat you.

Where the Gods are more for the rich, less for the poor.
Less said, the better.

Cheer Up...

You think of times that are yet to come
'Future' looks gloomy and your hands go numb.
You try but cant live in the present no more
Sanity in you, you wish, could someone pour.

You hope that the clouds pretty soon are cleared
You hope of 'Future' where nothing is feared.
Some peace for yourself, some peace for your head
All the worry, the anxiety & uneasiness shed.

To yourself you promise as you read this now
To yourself you promise, go ahead & take a vow
You'll give your best, give whatever it takes
You'll give your best, give whatever it takes.

Life... Well, Almost!

All day I was filling up forms and getting irritated big time with the sheer amount of paperwork. And all the time I was just making up the following lines. I don't think I am putting them down exactly as I had thought and there is not all of it out here for sure.

In life
reach your goals, the destination
but never lose the Way.

In life
exists hatred, exists envy
lets try and keep it at Bay.

In life
find colors of love, of compassion
in those shades of Grey.

In life
stay true to yourself and the one
come what May.

In life
there are people, but respect the ones
who forever Stay.

In life
there is a tomorrow
but it starts Today.

News Stories In Photographs

Recently I followed a link posted by Romit, one of my college buddies, on Facebook. It hyperlinked to The Boston Globe's online photoblog The Big Picture.

Below is a picture from the album "Congo's crisis worsens":

Being a photo enthusiast, I was stunned looking at some of the picture albums out here. After seeing my first album on the festival Diwali, I knew I had to check out as many albums as possible that day. Yes, it was a Sunday. I checked around 10 from the archives and man o man it was a Sunday well spent.

No more talking. Here is the link again : www.boston.com/bigpicture

I would have uploaded a few more pictures but, I'm afraid, I cannot do that. Neither I can add an RSS! :(

If you have any questions please feel free to leave me a comment here.

Enjoy.
So Long.
Cheers. G.

The Lamp

There I saw her - down the lane
She was trying to save herself
But alas, in vain.

Silent yet teaching
Its never the end
Towards it, yet, we all do wend.

Until the edge we never know
What is there, that lies below.

Life is a myriad
Of pain and sorrow
Of love and laughter
Hopes of tomorrow
and of thereafter.

To Grandma, who passed away earlier this month. You'll always be missed!

Pictures Of The Setu

Following are two pictures that I took of the Vidyasagar Setu(2nd Howrah Bridge) connecting Kolkata and Howrah. The first one was taken back in January and second one, last week. Both pictures have been taken from a cell phone camera and thereafter edited.

P.S. : So am I getting a new cam..?

To Black.. To White....

I, then, start to clear my sight
when I've figured out if its black or its white.

I don't know what the concept of black and white is. To rephrase, I don't know what the concept of "the two" is to others... others around me.
I just sit. Do I see anything, something?
I don't know. I don't know how "the two" are perceived by them.

Somehow, I want to define "the two". Don't call me a filthy idealist. I want the definition to be rigorous, only for myself. Don't call me geocentric. My world, well... almost always, ends within myself.

I equate black to wrong/unjustified and white to right/justified.
Would it help me?
If am to to judge and/or to decide, I assign one of "the two" to the context.
But why would I do that?
.
.
.
If it's black, I stop.
STOP!
If it's white. I don't start to think again. I start to imagine.
I've heard the color white contains all of the rainbow.
So once "it" is figured out to be white, I start to pick out the colors, the color I want.
Colors that would make me happy. Nothing pleases me. So colors that would please others.
Its from the context I comprehend, from the context I start, start to.....!

And When I cant figure out whats wrong, whats right
I choose oblivion, hoping to get my colors back bright!

A New Blog!

The old one got pretty messy. So shifted all the content there to some other URL and started a new one with the same old name. Kind of like it.
Cheers.
